On January 2, 2016, Rodtang secured his first Muay Thai championship by defeating Petchprakan Kor. Klanbut via decision to claim the MAX Muay Thai 125-pound title. Just a month later, on February 6, 2016, he successfully defended his title, once again defeating Petchprakan by decision.

In their third encounter, Tawanchai secured another decisive win, along with a side bet worth 6 million baht. These victories solidified his reputation as one of the top fighters in the country. His exceptional performance throughout 2018 earned him multiple Fighter of the Year awards.
